Micro-Dermabrasion

Now that I am almost 40, I think I want this skin procedure called 'Micro-Dermabrasion'." My skin is beginning to look a little old, okay, maybe a lot old, so I want to see about this procedure and if it will help me regain my youthful appearance.

If you don't know what this micro-dermabrasion is, let me explain: it is a skin-freshening technique that helps repair facial skin that has taken a beating from the sun, and the effects of aging. I think the hard selling point for my husband is why I need this procedure now.

Micro-dermabrasion sounds a bit scary, but my friend told me its really not that bad. She went through it last year and believe me, she looks great. She told me, her plastic surgeon used a machine that resembles a fine sandblaster. When she was there, it sprayed tiny crystals across her face, mixing gentle (not so gentle) abrasion with suction to remove the dead, outer layer of skin. Sometimes, micro-dermabrasion is combined with a light chemical peel to increase the effect.

Unfortunately, as with other skin rejuvenation techniques, more than one treatment may be needed to reduce or remove fine wrinkles and unwanted pigmentation. Each treatment takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.
